It is an event unique of its kind, which offers a weekly itinerary of approximately 900 kilometers, studied in details to be suitable for pre-war cars. The itinerary changes yearly and has the purpose of discovering not only the musical and cultural traditions but also the superb delicateness of the region visited.

Carovana Romantica rally develops in the "grand tour" style, which offers a variety of prestigious musical and cultural side events and hospitality in exclusive locations.

The tour of this year, which took place from the 8th till the 15th of June, saw 35 vintage cars crossing the Maremma. The itinerary included highlights of the Etruscan history among medieval villages, beaches and delicateness.

The journey started discovering the castled tuff city of Pitigliano, also known as "the little Jerusalem", because of the presence of a small community of Jews, and the city of Sovana, peculiar for its alleys.

A whole journey spent for the visit of the area of Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, a secular town built around a castle. Via di Bolgheri is the so famous path full of Tuscan cypresses that the Carovana crossed to reach the city of Bolgheri and what characterized this city is its world-famous production of wine. In this part of the region, the so-called Supertuscan wine is produced.

Others enjoyable stages were Piazza dei Priori di Volterra, thanks to the warm welcome of the Sbandieratori, and Piazza Centrale in Massa Marittima with a suggestive historical center hidden within the city walls.

The itinerary ,through the UNESCO site of Val d'Orcia and the Sienese clays, led the crews to discover unique landscapes, mostly used to represent the idea itself of the Italian Dolce Vita. Then, it came to Florence and last but not least the city of Tuscania, which is part of the territory of Tuscia, a word used by the Latin to refer to the Etruscan land.

The town sits on some tuff promontories and dominates the valley of the river Marta: an important and historical line of communication which since prehistory linked the lake of Bolsena to the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The Carovana Romantica of this year was made of crews of six different nationalities: Germany, Swiss, Austria, United Kingdom and from overseas Canada and the United States of America. A great international meeting, where the protagonists, apart from the cars, were these very "enthusiasts" crews, who reached Italy on board their pre-wars cars driving even thousands of kilometers. Among the most appreciated cars of this edition, there was: one Bentley 4.5 liter Le Mans, two prestigious and rare Jaguar SS100, three Rolls Royce 25/30, a 3000 injection Maserati only 36 models made and its enemy Aston Martin DB6 "Volante".

For the upcoming 2019 Rally, a new itinerary, obviously still top secret, is going to conduct a group of selected cars in another of the 20 stunning Italian regions.
