Carovana Romantica

42 rd Rally: "Kallisti kai Ichnos"

Corsica & Sardinia

June 3rd- 11th 2026

Introdution to Rally 2026:

The 42nd Carovana Romantica Rally 2026 theme is: ”Kallisti kai Ichnos”, an itinerary to discover the 2 most beautiful mediterranean islands: Corsica and Sardinia. Driving hundreds of kilometers of winding, perfectly paved roads, we'll combine the pleasure of driving with a sense of adventure and discover their wild nature along with extraordinary places, ancient traditions, and timeless atmospheres.

Corsica: from Cap Corse to the cliffs of the South

A mountain in the middle of the sea: this is Corsica, the Île de Beauté, where just 28 km as the crow flies takes you from the sea to an altitude of 2,706 m! An island of rugged and spectacular landscapes, as proud as its inhabitants.

The departure is scheduled from Bastia, a lively port city with its picturesque old port and the narrow streets of the Terra Vecchia district. From here, we'll continue towards Erbalunga, a small fishing village on Cap Corse, nestled between the sea and cliffs.

Continuing west, the rally will stop in Saint-Florent, an elegant seaside resort and gateway to the wild "Désert des Agriates," a lunar landscape of rocks and Mediterranean scrub overlooking turquoise waters.

The scenic route will then take us to Calvi, dominated by the imposing Genoese citadel, to reach the natural wonders of the Calanques de Piana (UNESCO), red rock sculptures overlooking the sea, and finally to the spectacular Bonifacio, a fortified city suspended on other white cliffs overlooking the sea.

Sardinia: Between the Crystal-Clear Sea and the Villages of Barbagia

A short ferry ride will take the crews to Santa Teresa di Gallura, the landing point in Sardinia. From there, the rally will continue through Gallura, a land of granite rocks, vineyards, and breathtaking views, until reaching Alghero, the "Sardinian Barceloneta," with its Catalan-style historic center and bastions overlooking the sea.

The route will continue inland, into the authentic heart of Sardinia, to discover the villages of Barbagia: such as Oliena, at the foot of the Supramonte Mountains, known for its wines and traditional cuisine; Mamoiada, home of the famous Mamuthones and carnival masks; and finally the evocative Gulf of Orosei, with its hidden coves and turquoise waters.

The arrival in Olbia will mark the conclusion of the rally and the embarkation for Genoa.

Making this itinerary special will also be the musical entertainment, with performances of the "Canti a tenore" (tenor songs) typical of both Corsica and Sardinia, and performances by folk groups that will bring to life the most authentic soul of the two islands. A unique experience, where every bend reveals a new panorama and every stop becomes an encounter with history, culture, and a passion for vintage cars.

Daily Route

Corsica: Le Cap Corse and Patrimonio Vineyards

Jutting into the sea, Cap Corse is a wild peninsula of cliffs, towers, and tiny fishing villages framed by turquoise coves and mountain peaks. At its southern edge lies Patrimonio, renowned for vineyards shaped by sea breezes and limestone soil, producing refined wines that capture the pure, authentic spirit of Corsica.

Corsica: Calvi & Le Calanche de Piana

Nestled between sea and mountains, Calvi enchants with its majestic Genoese citadel, golden beaches, and lively marina overlooking a deep blue bay. Its narrow streets and sunlit terraces reflect the island’s elegant yet rugged soul. Further south, the Calanques de Piana rise in dramatic red cliffs sculpted by wind and sea. Their surreal shapes and glowing colors at sunset make them one of Corsica’s most breathtaking natural wonders.

Corsica: Bonifacio

Perched high above the sea, Bonifacio is a fortress city carved into dazzling white limestone cliffs. Its medieval citadel, narrow alleys, and ancient walls seem to float above the turquoise waters of the strait. Beneath the cliffs, hidden caves and a natural harbor reveal the town’s seafaring past, making Bonifacio one of Corsica’s most dramatic and unforgettable sights.

Sardina: Alghero

Bathed in golden light, Alghero blends Mediterranean charm with Catalan heritage. Enclosed by ancient sea walls, its old town reveals cobbled streets, Gothic churches, and lively piazzas facing the blue horizon. Fishermen’s boats and coral artisans keep centuries-old traditions alive, giving Alghero a warm, timeless soul by the sea.

Sardinia: Barbagia & Orosei Gulf

In the heart of Sardinia, Barbagia is a land of mountains, stone villages, and ancient traditions. Here, time moves slowly among vineyards, murals, and the echo of pastoral songs. Descending toward the coast, the Gulf of Orosei unveils sheer cliffs, hidden caves, and crystal waters — a wild paradise where the island’s spirit meets the endless sea.
